An Introduction To Xenon HID Kits

HID is the short form of High Intensity Discharge. Have you ever heard of Xenon HID lights? These lights don't contain any filament like regular halogen bulbs. Instead, they contain xenon gas. A high voltage current is passed into the electrodes in these bulbs and this lights the gas which in turn releases a light which is three times are bright as regular car headlamps. There are quite a few color choices available when it comes to these lights as well although the most popular choice seems to be white.

A regular HID kit like the ones available on xenonhids.com comes with a couple of ballasts and all of the other electrical equipment required to set up the lights. These lights need more than 20,000 volts in order to start working and that is why ballasts are required. After all, you can’t expect to generate that kind of energy from your regular car headlights now can you? But don't worry; they don't require this sort of power continuously. It is just required to start up after which the electricity stabilizes at around 85 volts.

As far as color temperatures with these bulbs is concerned, you can hope to achieve anything from 3000 K to 12000 K depending on which HID kit you purchase.

So why do so many people prefer using these lights? Let me tell you a few of the reasons:

1. They are far brighter than regular halogen headlights.

2. They consume a lot less electricity than regular halogen headlights.

3. They shine light on a much wider area as compared to regular halogen headlights.

4. They last much longer as well.

5. They are quite durable and can withstand multiple shocks without breaking.

6. They are water and dust resistant.

7. And lastly, whenever they are about to go off, they will first start flickering as a warning. This gives you the opportunity to get them changed before it's too late.

Even though these lights rarely get spoilt, most of them come with yearlong warranties so even if something does go wrong, you can get them replaced without having to spend an additional penny. At the end of the day, the only thing I can guarantee you about xenon HID lights is that once you install them in your vehicle, you will never want to drive with halogen bulbs ever again.
